Headquartered on the glorious Mediterranean island of Pantelleria in the Strait of Sicily, this small concern was founded in 1949 by two men, Antonio Bonomo and Girolamo Giglio, and soon gained renown for its exceptionally wholesome caper production. The tradition was honoured by the ensuing generation with the arrival of the knowledgeable Gabriele Lasagni as helmsman, who evolved the production into a full-fledged agribusiness registered both as a caper-factory and an artisanal workshop worthy of the name the company carries, meaning “niche”: indeed its has cornered its niche of the finest primary ingredients from the Pantelleria territory itself, which are carefully processed with respect to the island’s environment and its unique, outstanding natural bounty. The excellence of the Nicchia’s product lines is guaranteed by the methodical selection of all the ingredients and the artisanal working methods applied, the end result being a simple yet exquisitely savoury delight.
